If you’ve decided to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle, it can be a little daunting to figure out how to create meals for yourself and your family. This is especially true if you want to make sure that your diet is well-rounded by consuming all the nutrients that you would otherwise get from meat. But don’t worry; plenty of options are available to help vegans, vegetarians, and people who simply want more meatless cooking ideas!
When making the transition to a vegetarian diet, it’s not only important to monitor your diet closely. It’s also necessary to take the time to learn about the different types of vegetarian diets so that you can include all of your meals in a balanced way.
For a lot of people, this is easier said than done because there is so much confusion out there concerning what it means to be vegetarian or vegan. But don’t worry; we’re going to try and clear this up for you!
There are two types of vegetarians: those who follow an entirely plant-based diet and those who simply cut out all animal foods from their diet for the time being.
The vegetarian who is trying to be totally plant-based avoids all animal products, including meat, poultry, fish, and dairy. Often these vegetarians will still keep a few eggs or dairy products in their diet by using eggs in things like baked goods (such as muffins), or drinking milk and yogurt. Sometimes these vegetarians may eat honey or wear leather shoes!
The other type of vegetarian chooses to restrict themselves to primarily animal sources of protein (with some exceptions) while totally avoiding meat, poultry, fish, and dairy. This means that these vegetarians will still include breads made with milk or eggs in their diets. They also may eat cheese and yogurt at some point in the day.
